Cork leather fabric is sourced from the bark of the Portuguese cork oak, a renewable resource as the trees are not cut down to collect the cork, only the bark is peeled off to obtain the cork, as well as a new layer of cork peeling off the outer bark, the cork bark will start to regenerate. The cork collection therefore does not cause any harm or damage to the cork oak. On the contrary, the stripping process promotes the regeneration of the new bark, as under natural conditions it takes 20-25 years for a cork tree to strip off its first layer of bark.
