With such ground-breaking design and technology, the 2017 Malibu is difficult enough to recognize with the badge, let alone without one. So, we brought real people, not actors, to a fake market research facility to see if they would be able to recognize the Malibu without any badges or branding. Here’s what happened.

Intellibeam®

The available Intellibeam® system turns your high beam headlamps on and off automatically based on surrounding traffic conditions. Once enabled, it is activated at speeds above 40 km/h, automatically turning off your high beam when oncoming headlamps are sensed or when tail lamps are detected in front of you. Another useful feature designed to keep you and your passengers safe when driving at night

Multi-Function Steering Wheel

Thanks to conveniently located wheel mounted controls, you can now stream your favourite songs, get directions and access your contacts without having to take your hands off the wheel. With the simple press of a button, you can activate and manage the Adaptive Cruise Control, make calls, view the Malibu’s vital statistics through the Driver Information Center and much more, right at your fingertips.​

The Malibu comes with a whole suite of active safety technologies that aim to prevent and protect you and your passengers.

Always use safety belts and the correct child restraint for your child’s age and size, even with air bags. Even in vehicles equipped with the Passenger Sensing System, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in the appropriate infant, child or booster seat. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat of any vehicle equipped with an active frontal air bag. Side Blind Zone Alert​

LED-lit symbols in the corresponding exterior mirrors alert you when another vehicle ventures into one of your blind zones​

Forward Collision Alert​

Using a high-resolution camera to scan for vehicles ahead, this available feature alerts you of a potential crash risk with both audible and visual alerts​

Adaptive Cruise Control.

Adaptive Cruise Control helps you maintain your selected cruising speed and the following gap distance, automatically braking when necessary in stop-and-go traffic.

Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning​

Lane Keep Assist works at speeds above 60 km/h to monitor road lines and will gently correct the steering wheel should your vehicle begin changing lanes without the use of a turn signal, whilst lane Departure Warning alerts you of any fast approaching vehicles in the adjacent lane from up to 25 meters away​.​

6 Air Bags With Safety Cage

In the event of a crash, frontal air bags are deployed to protect the driver and front passenger ensuring optimum safety of passengers onboard.

Air bag inflation can cause severe injury or death to anyone too close to the air bag when it deploys. Always use safety belts and the correct restraint for your child’s age and size. This available feature uses radar sensors to help warn you of vehicles in traffic when backing out of a parking spot. Visual and audible alerts are triggered if moving vehicles are detected.​

​Front Pedestrian Alert

Front Pedestrian Alert proactively engages braking automatically for rapid reaction to potential collisions with pedestrians or cyclist in urban driving situations up to 80 km/h.

Front and Rear Park Assist with Rear Vision Camera​

Parking is simplified with Front and Rear Park Assist while the Rear Vision Camera adds an extra measure of safety by helping you see stationary objects behind you when reversing.
