Bovine GM-CSF(Granulocyte Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor) Introduction

GM-CSF is a monomeric glycoprotein secreted by macrophages, T cells, mast cells, natural killer cells, endothelial cells and fibroblasts that functions as a cytokine. The pharmaceutical analogs of naturally occurring GM-CSF are called sargramostim and molgramostim. Unlike granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, which specifically promotes neutrophil proliferation and maturation, GM-CSF affects more cell types, especially macrophages and eosinophils. GM-CSF is a monomeric glycoprotein that functions as a cytokine — it is a white blood cell growth factor. GM-CSF stimulates stem cells to produce granulocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils) and monocytes. Monocytes exit the circulation and migrate into tissue, whereupon they mature into macrophages and dendritic cells.

Bovine GM-CSF-specific monoclonal antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Standards samples and controls are added to interact with the immobilized antibody. A sandwich complex is formed by additional anti-Bovine GM-CSF antibody with HRP-Streptavidin.TMB solution is added to react with the sandwich forming opticalsignal measured by microplate reader.The concentHumanion of Bovine GM-CSF in the sample can be calculated by comparing the absorbance of the sample with the standard curve.
