EMD diesel engines by Caterpillar for marine applications.
If dynamic load variation is your primary requirement: as a new model range, Zeppelin Power Systems has now added type 710 2-stroke engines by Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) to the portfolio.
EMD 2-stroke engines offer outstanding acceleration and response times. As a generator set, the EMD 710G 20-cylinder engine achieved its full load of 3,729 kW in just 2 seconds. Similarly tested marine applications achieve acceleration from idle to full load in less than 11 seconds. These fast response times provide customers with much safer operations, lower fuel consumption, reduced wear and substantial savings in operating costs.
The EMD 710 series has a long tradition and is one of the market leaders in the field of medium speed 2-stroke diesel engines. Electro-Motive Diesel Inc. (formerly Winton Engine) has belonged to Progress Rail Services Corporation, a 100%-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, since 2010.
